Susanne Yerich, M.S.

Ms. Yerich is a member of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine. Her base clinic is Mercy Radiation Therapy located in Coon Rapids. She is a Twin Cities native who received a B.A. in biophysics from St. Mary’s University in Winona, Minnesota, and then did an internship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota to become a certified nuclear medicine technologist. During four years working in a nuclear medicine department, she was introduced to medical physics as a career, and decided to pursue a degree in the field. She joined Minneapolis Radiation Oncology in 2004, and completed her M.S. in biophysical sciences and medical physics in 2005.

 

At MRO, she has been involved in the startup of an in vivo dose verification program using MOSFET dosimeters at North Radiation Therapy Center, and she helped implement image guided radiation therapy (IGRT) and electronic portal imaging at North. She has also undertaken prostate seed implants, gynecological seed implants, treatment planning, quality assurance of treatment plans, quality assurance of radiation therapy treatment machines, and she helped with the commissioning of a new treatment machine.
